Julia Vellacott 

(1943 – 2023)

Julia was a socialist, a feminist and a valued member of the Hackney Flashers in the 1970s and again when we re-grouped in the early 2000s.

She was a Londoner, a Labour Party member, a local activist and an eco-warrior.

When she joined the Hackney Flashers in 1975, she was a senior editor at Penguin Books. Later she trained at the London Centre for Psychotherapy and was respected for her work as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist.

She was a clinical trustee for many years at the Maya Centre, which offers free professional counselling and support for women.
